As part of GigaOM's renewed focus on technologies that matter, we are launching a series of events called the GigaOM PM. Om Malik will host these meet-ups occasionally to discuss topical and important technology breakthroughs. We will keep these gatherings small and focused.
To kick off the series, we are focusing on Hadoop , which is quietly turning into one of the more important open source projects, especially for start-ups who are looking for a new ways for high volume data processing. Hadoop, an open source project, sponsored by the Apache Software Foundation, that allows it to take advantage of huge clusters of computers to produce fast results for queries and more, is becoming popular with start-ups. You can come and listen to the Hadoop gurus speak and teach us about this technology effort.
Here are the details of the event:
When: 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM on May 1, 2008
Where: GigaOM Offices at Pier 38 in San Francisco
